A second generation native, born and raised in St. Petersburg, Leslie Curran previously served for eight years as a member of St. Petersburg City Council from 1989-1997 representing District 8.  Councilmember Curran served in the position of Vice Chair for one term, then was chosen to lead Council as a two-time elected Chair.

Leslie Curran was re-elected to City Council in 2005, and currently serves as its senior member representing District 4, and the city as a whole.

Leslie Curran is the mother of three children – two grown, and a daughter who is deceased.

Terms of Office:
Elected in 2005, term expires January 2, 2010.

Committee Assignments:
Chair, Housing Services Committee; Chair, Consolidated Plan Review Committee; Council Procedures Committee; Public Services & Infrastructure Committee; Co-Sponsored Events Committee, and Public Arts Commission.   Enterprise Zone Development Agency, and Tourist Development Council (CVB).

Appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Board of the Florida League of Cities and the Pier Advisory Task Force.

Professional:
Owner of Interior Motives, Inc., an art gallery and design business on Central Avenue.

Community:
Founding member of Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association and instrumental in the formation of several neighborhood organizations throughout the city. Founding member and committee chair of First Night St. Petersburg. Instrumental in the formation of YouthBuild St. Petersburg, where she also served as a committee co-chair. Former board member of Boley Centers for Behavioral Health Care, Inc., the Arts Advisory Commission and the Public Arts Commission. Initially elected to St. Petersburg City Council, District 8, in 1989 and re-elected in 1993, having served an unexpired and a full term as City Council Chair.

Education and Awards:
Attended parochial schools in St. Petersburg and Eckerd College. YWCA Woman of the Year Award.
